Top 10 Strange Quotes In The Bible

Written by Top 100 Arena on 2012-07-22
Bible can be very inspiring and informative but there are certain quotes present in it which are really weird and strange. These bizarre quotes can be sexually explicit as well as can hurt the emotions of different parties. Let us have a look at the top 10 weird quotes from the Bible.

10 Leviticus 24: 16

Item 10

“Whoever utters the name of the Lord must be put to death. The whole community must stone him whether alien or native. If he utters the name, he must be put to death.” Can you please stop this insanity? While condemning a whole community for showing their love towards their god, it sentences them to death for even uttering the name of the Lord, and is highly foolish. More info

9 Leviticus 21: 18-20

Item 9

“No man with a defect is to come, whether a blind man, a lame man, a man stunted or overgrown, or with misshapen brows, or film over his eyes, or discharge from it, a man who has a scab, or eruption, or has had a testicle ruptured.” Again one of the many quotes, this one takes a highly prejudiced view towards disabled people, by not allowing them to enter heaven. It is truly not fit enough to be taught to the masses in its current form. It has given birth, to many rows over the rights of the physically impaired people and thus should be eliminated from the Bible.

8 Exodus 21: 7

Item 8

“When a man sells his daughter into slavery, she is not to go free as male slaves may.” The above quote is not only ridiculous, but is also very misogynistic and shows the attitude of the society towards women freedom. By not allowing women to walk away free from slavery when men may do so, this unreasonable quote points to the patriarchal society and the marginalized female sect.

7 Genesis 16: 8-9

Item 7

“And he said "Hagar, Sarai's slave girl, where have you come from and where are you going?" She answered, "I'm running away from Sarai, my mistress." The angel of the Lord said to her, "Go back to your mistress and submit to ill treatment at her hands." This quote is highly suggestive in the sense that it speaks of bondage and slavery in highly sexual overtones. This is just one of the many quotes with sexual innuendoes in the book. More info

6 Deuteronomy 23:1 ESV

Item 6

“The first quote of “Those excluded from the assembly” says that “No one whose testicles are crushed or whose male organ is cut off shall enter the assembly of the Lord”. This is an outrageous sexually sensitive quote. It questions the entire justness of the holy Bible! The raw translation sounds even bitterer that the castrated men won’t be allowed in the prayers of the Almighty. Well it is surely one of the most absurd quotes.

5 Genesis 38:8-10 NASB

Item 5

“Then Judah said to Onan, “Go in to your brother’s wife, and perform your duty as a brother-in-law to her, and raise up offspring for your brother.” This is an again a very sensitive and a displeasing statement that can create hustle-bustle in other religions. Especially in the glorious Hindu religion, where the sister-in-law is treated equivalent to the mother, this statement can be really jostling. In the epic Ramayana where the princess Sita considers her brother-in-law as her son, thinking about such a statement produces a choking in our hearts. Isn’t it?

4 Ezekiel 23:19-20

Item 4

“Yet she increased her whoring, remembering the days of her youth, when she played the whore in the land of Egypt and lusted after her lovers there, whose members were like those of donkeys, and whose issue was like that of horses.” To read such pornographic and explicit content is highly blasphemous and questions the authenticity of the text contained in the Bible. According to the learned scholars, quotes like these definitely will have an adverse effect on the upbringing of the children reading the Holy Bible. More info

3 Deut. 28: 22

Item 3

“May the Lord afflict you with a wasting disease and recurrent fever, ague, and eruptions with drought and black blight and red and may these plague you until you perish.” It is another of those quotes which speak of terrible afflictions for the unbelievers and the heathen. Such quotes make one wonder if such a holy and inspiring book is truly intended to preach the word of wisdom or kindness. It questions the justness, the purity and the serenity of the Bible. 2 Deut. 7: 2

Item 2

“And when the Lord your God delivers them into your power for you to defeat, you must exterminate them. You must not make alliance with them or spare them.” This another absurd quote speaks of cruelty, in a book which professes to teach the word of God, who is kind and loving and forgiving in nature. Such quotes truly give an immoral education which is unworthy of being taught. More info

1 Genesis 19: 8

Item 1

"Look, I have two daughters, virgins both of them. Let me bring them out to you and you could do what you like with them. But do nothing to these men because they have come under the shelter of my roof." This is a highly irrational quote. It speaks of a highly twisted sense of service to mankind, where a man is prepared to sacrifice his beautiful young daughters just to save some people who have taken refuge under his roof. At the same time the quote is extremely illogical as a father is willing to “donate” his daughters for the sake of men who are mere acquaintances. It also brings to light the weak will power of a man who is ridiculously trading away his daughters so that he is not accounted responsible for the death of those refugees. Shameful act indeed!
