Many strategy games were released in 2011, some were so eagerly awaited by fans while others were not. There are those that met the expectations of its players and there are many that did not. If you are a fan of real time strategy games, you may be interested to know which topped the list in the year 2011:

1 StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty

This strategy game had tons of upgrades from previous editions but maintained the storyline. Technology-wise though, this game passes as the best 2011 strategy game.

2 Company of Heroes

This game was inspired by the World War II and can be played in bot single and multiplayer modes. Players can play skirmishes against each other in multiplayer mode.

3 Empire: Total War

Set in the Age of Enlightenment 18th century, this game’s objective is to conquer the world by surviving through various stages and ages.

4 Sins of a Solar Empire

In Sins of a Solar Empire, a player has many galaxies as well as planets to conquer. Each faction of the game has different warfare technology.

5 World in Conflict

The game is set in 1989 before the fall of the Soviet Union. In single player mode, the player can pick a campaign and play either as USA or NATO.

6 WarHammer 40,000: Dawn of War II

In this game, a player is presented with four factions: Orks, Marines, Eldar and Tyranid.

7 Warcraft III: Reign of Chaos

This is a deadly war between humans and Orcs. The player becomes the leader of the humans and attempt to eliminate the Orcs to stay alive and regain the control of the planet.

8 Medieval II: Total War

Total war is set in the middle ages. The player is supposed to conquer Europe through winning war tactics and leadership. There are many factions a player can choose from.

9 Age of Empires III

The player in the game controls a colonial power of Europe and tries to conquer and dominate the opponents.

10 Supreme Commander 2

This game has three factions and each faction has six missions. The player’s responsibility is to lead his or her army to victory against its enemies.

These were the most dominant real-time strategy games that game lovers played in 2011.
